Overview
The purpose of this position is to service the materials engineering needs of Commercial Vehicle Systems. This is accomplished through active involvement with the divisions and conducting materials characterizations.
Job Responsibilities
Collaboration and provide project needs of Cummins-Meritor divisions.
Maintain Material & Process Specifications.
Initiates and maintains liaison with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement personnel.
Proactive in providing solutions and drive results.
Provide organic material support to the design, manufacturing, and procurement staffs.
Perform materials characterization for the purpose of failure resolution and competitive analysis and product application and improvement.
Participate in Specification Committee Activities.
Expand expertise in Materials Engineering and Manufacturing Operations.
Strong technical writing skills.
Operates well in a fast paced environment.
Acts in a safe manner and promotes/oversees safe practices within the group.
Participates in vendor audits. Works with suppliers to improve product and service quality.
Fosters a team atmosphere within Materials Engineering.
Exhibits high standards of professional and ethical conduct.
Demonstrate high standard on PPAP evaluation and review of parts and materials.
Keeps abreast of technology regarding new materials, material processes, materials characterization opportunities and laboratory equipment.
Participates in materials and process development projects; communicates pertinent information in a timely and effective manner.
Performs analyses, interprets data and writes reports to satisfy requestors' needs and reduce laboratory backlog.
Writes or modifies materials and process specifications as requested by customers.
Engaged with industry committees including LRI, ASTM, and SAE.
