JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
As an Analytical Chemist, you'll be pivotal in our lab's efficiency, handling tasks from inventory reporting to sample preparation and analysis using techniques like HPLC, GC/MS, and ICP/MS. Your role includes LIMS management, sample scheduling, and ensuring data accuracy. Upholding SOPs, HACCP guidelines, and maintaining a clean workspace are key aspects, reflecting our commitment to quality and safety. Your flexibility to take on additional duties as needed further contributes to the overall success of our laboratory operations.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Report inventory and expendable supplies/materials needed for testing requirements.
  • Log in client samples to the laboratory information management system (LIMS)
  • Schedule sample workflow for preparation and analysis by due date, hold time and turnaround time requirements.
  • Prepare samples following laboratory methods for extraction of volatile, semi-volatile and non- 2 volatile inorganic and organic compounds.
  • Perform all initial and continuing calibration requirements for sample analysis.
  • Analyze prepared samples by HPLC, GC/MS, ICP/MS and other techniques as required.
  • Review data and final reports for completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation and other laboratory equipment.
  • Assist with the coordination of sample collection, transport, and receiving.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area at all times.
  • Adhere to all SOP's and HACCP guidelines.
  • Adhere to all UDA quality, safety, and GMP policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:
General Skills & Abilitiesneeded to complete job successfully:
  • Versed in GMP/GLP, FDA, SMEDP, ADPI, AOAC and other method reference sources.
  • Excellent Aseptic technique and use of biological hood.

  • Must be able to work 12 hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Requires ability to read, hear, speak, and comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.

Experience:
  • 2-3 years food related chemistry experience preferred

• Requires ability to hear and speak and frequently hear and speak in very noisy environments.
• Requires ability to work in varying extreme hot, cold, and wet temperatures and conditions.
• Requires ability to work in confined spaces occasionally.
• Requires ability to work safely with hazardous chemicals
