This job develops, presents, and coordinates patient education programs. Provides orientation in service education, Electronic Health Record (EHR) training, life support course training and continuing educational presentations for designated clinical services. Designated clinical services may include, surgery, medicine, critical care, maternal/pediatric/newborn, ambulatory and/or emergency services

Education

Required – RN diploma, completion of an accredited LPN program, or bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

Preferred – Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

Work Experience

Required – 5 years’ experience as a healthcare provider

Certifications

Preferred – Current RN or LPN license in the state of practice

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Job Duties

  • Develops, schedules, and conducts one-on-one and group training sessions.
  • Participates in system upgrades through analysis, testing and development of documentation and training curricula.
  • Responsible for a variety of program development strategies that may include, but are not limited to, mandatory online training, additional module development, nursing research and publication design, etc.
  • Initiates, evaluates, and conducts nursing research for issues involving nursing/patient education and care within the hospital.
  • Evaluates the effects of nursing research on patient care to make recommendations and take the appropriate course of action.
  • Identifies research questions and proactively seeks the best evidence-based practice.
  • Documents participation in nursing research and publication activities on an annual basis.
  • Utilizes current research findings as a basis for program and policy development.
  • Other related duties as required.
