Summary:
The Amada Operator is responsible for the proper operation of an Amada machine for the purpose of putting a specific bend in a piece of metal so it can be moved to the next process.
Examples of Duties:
- Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
- Completes tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision.
- Receives a skid load of metal and takes it the appropriate workstation, which involves occasionally receiving instructions through personal conversations and distinguishing types of metal by color.
- Uses mathematical skills and reads technical blueprints to determine the type and size of bend required, which involves the use of hands and arms to use a tape line.
- Programs and sets the machine to run the part, using hands and arms to input data in machine’s settings.
- Runs the part, which requires the use of some concentration and normal attention. Also requires the use of hands, arms and feet to lift and hold piece of metal weighing up to 60 lbs. and using foot to press the pedal to operate the machine.
- Utilizes knowledge of refrigeration construction to visually check metal part to ensure the bend is correct. Also involves repetitive stooping, forward bending and crouching.
- Places metal back on skid and takes to the appropriate workstation, which involves some written and verbal communication skills to determine the correct placement of the panel.
- Responsible for adhering to all standard operating procedures to promote the safety of all employees, including wearing safety gear when required; hearing warning sounds, and recognizing potentially dangerous situations in an indoor plant environment.

Preferred Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED
- Vocational training in manufacturing
- Some knowledge of industry software
- Two years of equivalent experience
