Description
Our Mission: Knoxville Leadership Foundation (KLF) serves the Knoxville area by connecting communities of resource with communities of need, while reconciling people to Jesus Christ and to each other.
Purpose of Position: Daily responsibility to plan, coordinate and support new and existing group mentoring opportunities as well as support existing recruitment and outreach efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Represent Amachi in relationships with community partners, to include, but not limited to, Knox County Schools, Knox Education Foundation, United Way, Cedarbrook Outreach, KCDC properties, area colleges and universities, etc.
- Responsible for the support of existing group relationships to include site-based contact support to ensure healthy community partnerships; appropriate check-ins with mentors, mentees and caregivers; data collection; conflict mediation
- Assist the Director of Amachi in identifying areas of need for new group mentoring opportunities
- Assist recruitment team with presentations, screenings and other general processes in an effort to enroll new mentors and mentees into Amachi in a timely manner
- Assist with the coordination and facilitations pre-match trainings while conveying the message of the organizational purpose
- Facilitate introductions amongst mentors, mentees and site-coordinators, including the preparation of paperwork and coordinating schedules
- Engage group mentors in monthly surveys to ensure appropriate program support at each site and to offer a space for volunteer feedback
- Identify areas of program growth for group mentoring including but not limited to advancing curriculum and identifying new partner sites
- Work with mentors and site-contacts to identify program participants in need of extra support; provide strategic intervention to strengthen relationships, to include enrollment in Amachi group-based mentoring
- Make referrals to community agencies as necessary
- Coordinate and facilitate healthy group closure as appropriate
- Assist with other general Amachi processes, including, but not limited to, recruitment events, in-home interviews, administrative tasks to support the community-based mentoring initiative, survey collection, etc.
- Assist recruitment team with presentations, tabling opportunities, and other community events to recruit participants and volunteers
- Facilitate monthly match evaluations of mentor mentee matches who reach one-year and communicate recommendations to match support team
- Process and maintain accurate files and electronic records for all program participants; provide written documentation on behalf of volunteers as needed
- Prepare and submit group initiative updates to Director of Amachi on weekly basis
- Participate in appropriate staff meetings, retreats, events, etc. as assigned
- Assist in task supervision of program interns as needed to ensure a quality and successful internship is achieved
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in social services, human services, or related field preferred, or equivalent related experience
- Experience with at-risk youth populations preferred; ability to empathize and build rapport with individuals coming from a variety of experiences and cultures
- Desire to complete work that makes a positive impact
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to make meaningful connections through introductory conversations
- Exceptional skills in organization and time management
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; presentation skills a plus
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment; decision making and problem-solving skills
- Access to reliable vehicle, valid driver's license and automobile insurance required
- Weekly evening availability is mandatory; occasional weekend needs with special program events

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Bending and twisting.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
