The Evans School of Public Policy & Governance has an exciting opening for an Alumni & Community Engagement Manager. This is a full-time permanent position.
The Evans School of Public Policy & Governance educates leaders, generates knowledge and hosts communities to co-create solutions to pressing societal problems. The Alumni & Community Engagement Manager will design and execute programs, content and relationship-building strategies that inspire external audiences and drive deeper partnership with the Evans School. Reporting to the Director of Development, this role connects ALUMNI AND COMMUNITY partners to volunteer and giving opportunities at the school. The position requires a commitment to anti-racism and equity, a tolerance for risk and ambiguity, creativity and curiosity, strong project management skills, as well as the ability to problem solve, take initiative, set priorities and handle multiple projects at once.
What You Will Do:
Program and Events Management 50%
• Manage ALUMNI AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT events and programs, including learning sessions, ALUMNI AND affinity groups, regional conference receptions, the quarterly Dean's Forum on Race & Public Policy virtual series and the annual Puget Sound region alumni reception.
• Design event programs in partnership with colleagues and school leaders, including coordinating speakers, event logistics, vendor management, audience development, guest management and day-of event support.
• Collaborate with the UW Alumni Association to promote COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT opportunities.
• Develop, execute and manage an annual engagement plan that identifies opportunities for alumni to connect with the School and Evans students and alumni.
• Provide staff leadership to the School's Community of Ambassadors, as well as various regional and affinity groups, by maintaining regular communications, connecting in one-on-one meetings with members and hosting quarterly meetings.
• Evaluate programs, seek feedback, identify opportunities for program improvements and make recommendations about how to increase the efficiency and optimization of programs.
Annual Giving and Pipeline Development 25%
• Manage and coordinate the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of a portfolio of qualified prospects with a capacity for gifts of $500-$5,000.
• Identify and promote giving opportunities and create stewardship reports specific to various stakeholder groups.
• Support the School's participation in the University-wide Husky Giving Day and other one-to-many fundraising appeals.
Communications 20%
• Contribute strategically to alumni communications and assist in content development.
• Support updates to the alumni section of the Evans School website.
• Manage the ALUMNI AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT listservs, ensure accurate membership management and serve as a moderator/approver of content.
• Assist in the preparation of alumni contributions to the monthly e-newsletter, including brainstorming content ideas and writing short articles, event recaps and alumni profiles.
Other Duties as Assigned 5%
• Serve on Evans School and University-wide committees.
• Perform other duties as assigned in service to the mission of the Evans School.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree AND at least three years of progressively responsible experience in development, advancement or COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

• Demonstrated ability to use discretion and protect confdential information.
• Experience hosting events and conversations that invite and include diverse perspectives, voices and experiences.
• Experience working in a range of modes to support donor or stakeholder engagement, from facilitating one-on-one and group/committee meetings to coordinating events.
• Familiarity with fundraising and appeals.
• Demonstrated creativity, organizational ability and strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relational databases.
• Ability to understand datasets and make strategic decisions using data.
• Capacity to effectively work independently as well as part of a team.
What You Can Expect:
• Occasional evening and weekend hours, as necessary, to support events and programs.
• Occasional local travel required for donor and stakeholder meetings.
