Job Description
SUMMARY
The Welder's role is to operate and set up different types of TIG and MIG welding equipment. They are responsible for planning and laying out TIG and MIG operations on various assemblies, parts, and fabrications of mostly non-ferrous materials. This involves performing a range of duties.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to choose proper selection and procurement of materials and equipment required for TIG welding.
- Measure and align workpieces using straightedges, clamps, and calipers.
- Interpret and follow blueprints required for welding and fabrication projects.
- Perform TIG welding on materials such as aluminum, steel, and stainless steel.
- Conduct systematic inspections on welding machines and tools during processing.
- Read and interpret welding codes and blueprints.
- Lay out, measure, and align metal workpieces before welding.
- Collaborate with the weld lead and coworkers as required to address any issues related to weldments or processes.
- Ensure the operation of welding equipment is by safety guidelines and report any issues as needed.
- Maintain good working knowledge of all welding positions and instrument operation.
- Assess welds to ensure they are clean, free of error, and by AWS or applicable welding codes.
- Maintain a clean working environment.
- Follow safety procedures established within the department.
- Behaves courteously to coworkers and customers, follows directions of supervisors, and refrains from loud aggressive, or profane language and behavior.
- Regular work attendance is required.

Requirements:Qualifications:
- Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, or at least three years of relevant experience and/or training, or a combination of education and experience that is equivalent.
- Technical, measurement, and problem-solving skills.
- 3+ years of professional TIG Welding experience with a strong emphasis on aluminum.
- Proficient in welding a variety of metals and alloys.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams.
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques and safe operation of welding equipment.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Must be detail-oriented and highly motivated.
- Ability to certify to AWS D17.1 specification for fusion welding of aerospace applications.
- Ability to pass the vision exam per applicable welding specifications.
