We are looking for an Alternate Director of nursing to organize and oversee all nursing operations of our agency. You will create a collaborative and efficient workplace with attention to quality standards and policies. There, all personnel will be able to do their best in caring for patients. At First Steps Nursing and Therapy we take pride in providing private duty nursing and therapy to the pediatric population of San Antonio and greater surrounding areas.
Responsibilities included but not limited to:
- Assists the Director of Nursing Services in managing and directing the Nursing Services Department.
- Provides direct nursing care as necessary
- Direct, oversee and evaluate all nursing personnel ( RN’s and LVN’s.)
- Guide staffing procedures
- Set objectives and long-term goals for the nursing department
- Organize and coordinate admission, nursing and patient care procedures
- Develop and enforce policies aiming for legal compliance and high quality standards to meet state, local and federal regulation.
- Management of cases. Plan, organize and oversee staff to provide patient care.
- Reviews nursing personnel medical records and clinical documentation to ensure that it is appropriately and accurately descriptive of the nursing care provided.
- Prepares for and participates in regulatory surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies.
- Supports the Quality Assessment & Assurance Committee in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies.
- Trains and orientates nursing staff as needed
- Maintain clinical skill and knowledge necessary to set standard and work in clinical areas of Nursing
- Assist with staff recruitment; ensures orientation plan for new staff members
- Resolve issues and deficiencies when needed
- Manage record-keeping procedures
- Collaborate with other departments and professionals to streamline operations
- Report to upper management
- Able to be on-call as needed
Skills
- Proven experience as a supervisor of a nursing department
- In-depth knowledge of Home Health procedures and pediatric patient care
- Understanding of basic budgeting and financial reporting
- Great knowledge of legal regulations and best practices in healthcare
- Willingness to keep abreast of changing standards in nursing administration
- Excellent ability to lead and develop personnel
- Great communication and people skills
- Outstanding organizational and stress management skills
- Aptitude in problem-solving
- Valid nursing and CPR certification
- Bachelors degree in Nursing preferred; supplemented with three years of clinical/administration experience.
- Texas RN license required
- Reliable transportation, valid and current auto liability insurance
