The Division of Administration/Office of Aircraft Services has a vacancy.
This vacancy will be filled by new hire or by promotion of a current permanent status classified employee.

This vacancy participates in a career progression group and may be filled from this recruitment as an Aircraft Mechanic 1 1 (WS-216) or Aircraft Mechanic 2 (WS-218) depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant. The maximum salary for the Aircraft Mechanic 2 is $110,531. Please refer to the "Job Specifications" tab located at the top of the LA Careers "Current Job Opportunities" page of the Civil Service website for specific information on salary ranges, minimum qualifications and job concepts for each level.
A criminal history check may be conducted on all new hires as well as employees changing positions including promotions, demotions, details, reassignments and transfers. Function of Work:
To provide a level of aircraft maintenance technical skill to effectively accomplish all scheduled, unscheduled, major, and minor maintenance to airframes, power plants, and related aircraft systems to insure airworthiness of State-owned aircraft in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
Level of Work:
Experienced.
Supervision Received:
General from higher level supervisory personnel and functional from more experienced Aircraft Mechanics.
Supervision Exercised:
None.
Location of Work:
May be used by any State agency.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from Aircraft Mechanic 2 by the absence of functional supervision or aircraft inspection quality control responsibility.
Differs from other skilled trades jobs by the presence of responsibility for aircraft power plant and airframe repair.
Examples of Work
Performs skilled maintenance tasks and submits accurate work reports on a scheduled and nonscheduled basis to ensure airworthiness of all State-owned aircraft.
Ensures that all work is completed in proper compliance with established preventive maintenance programs, FAA rules and regulations, and State policy, including accurate documentation of work performed.
Keeps abreast of and complies with all current and applicable manufacturers' recommendations, FAA regulations, Airworthiness Directives, Technical Standard Orders, and State policies in order to maintain an adequate level of technical knowledge.
Inspects aircraft, aircraft systems, and components to determine operational capabilities and airworthiness.
Maintains the maintenance shop, work areas, tools, and equipment in an organized and serviceable manner to maximize safety and efficiency.
Performs any other duties and functions as may be required to ensure the safe and efficient use of personnel and equipment.
