HOW YOU'LL HELP US KEEP CLIMBING (OVERVIEW & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES)
The Aircraft Maintenance Technician (Sheet Metal) is a critical TechOps role at Delta. In this role, you will maintain the proper and safe functioning of Delta’s fleet, ensuring customers have an exceptional travel experience. You will work directly with aircraft and its components, fulfilling such tasks as repair, modification and fabrication of parts and assemblies, such as frames, stringers, longerons, bulkheads, beams, ribs, spars, skin, cowling, brackets, faring, access doors, panels and other related items to maintain the proper and safe functioning of Delta’s fleet. AMTs maintain aircraft, aircraft engines, and aircraft components and avionics systems according to Delta and FAA specifications; perform inspections during assembly of parts and after repair or installation of components; document maintenance procedures including component damage, origin, and condition; and practice safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
Summary of responsibilities (not comprehensive of all tasks):
- Performs all work activities in accordance with established laws, regulations, standards, safety protocols, and procedures to ensure safety of self and others.
- Performs fabrication of local manufactured items required for aircraft and equipment. Work includes layout, bending, cutting, forming and assembling. Devise and calculates patterns employing the principles of triangulation, radial and parallel line development.
- Sets up and operates power shears, brakes, rolls, dimpling machines, drill presses, saws, portable powered tools, specific detection and measuring equipment, and other metal working equipment, including use of other tools of the trade. Requisitions necessary supplies and equipment for the activity.
- Prepares and designs layout, dies, jigs, and templates necessary to carry out fabrication repair or modification of aircraft, engine, AGE, and other equipment. Works from blueprints, technical orders diagrams, and work orders.
- Inspects damage or deterioration and determines repair or replacement of plastic, fiberglass, composites, bonded structures, and bonded honeycomb assemblies using powered and nonpowered tools and equipment. Repairs or replaces retaining frames and installs plastic laminated blanks. Designs and constructs forming fixtures.
- Recommends replacement, repair, or modification of aircraft equipment based on inspection.
- Inspects completed work to certify that maintenance adheres to standards and procedures, and that aircraft are ready for operation.
- Researches, reads, and interprets technical manuals and guidelines to perform inspections, installations, repairs, or other work activities.
- Serves as a technical expert or mentor by providing advice and corrective recommendations to others.
- Uses computers, computer systems, and other technology to enter, document, access, receive, or communicate information.
- Use of CAD software to create technical drawings and plans for products and parts used in the engineering/fabrication of parts.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
The minimum starting hourly rate for this position is $37.73 with a potential maximum hourly rate of $38.32. The ability to reach the maximum hourly rate is dependent upon several other offered premiums (Examples would include but not limited to - Airframe and Powerplant license, Shift differential, Station location differential, Line Maintenance differential, Skill differential).

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)

- Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
- Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
- Must have an FAA Airframe and Power Plant license.
- Minimum 1-2 years sheet metal experience.
- High School Diploma, GED or High School Equivalency
- Must have valid driver's license.
- Must pass a background check including a government required fingerprint-based criminal history records check.
- Must pass a DOT required pre-employment drug screen and thereafter submit to DOT mandated random drug and alcohol testing.
- Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
- (If transferring internally) Must be performing satisfactorily in present position.
- Demonstrates that privacy is a priority when handling personal data.
