In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience: One year specialized experience that demonstrated experience issuing control instructions and advice to pilots in the vicinity of airports to assure proper separation of aircraft and to expedite safe and efficient movement, act decisively under stressful situations and maintain alertness over sustained periods of pressure, coordinate plans and actions with pilots and other controllers, and use judgement to select and take the safest and most effective course of action from among several available choices.
Special Qualifications Requirements: Successful completion of recognized school on Air Traffic Control or Current Federal Aviation Administration rating.
MAXIMUM ENTRY AGE: Employees hired for the first time ("originally hired") into covered GS-2152 positions must not exceed the established Maximum Entry Age (MEA) at the time of appointment. The MEA for Air Traffic Controllers (ATCs) is 36. An employee originally hired into a covered ATC position must be hired by the last day of the month he/she reaches age 36 unless a waiver from Department of Army is approved prior to appointment
