Title: Air Quality Engineer
Reports to: EHS Manager
Location: Santa Fe Springs, CA

Areas of Focus/Job Summary
The Air Quality Engineer will provide support to EHS Manager through proper implementation of Air Quality programs at the Santa Fe Springs Sites. Including emissions permitting, monitoring, reporting, and inspections. In addition, management of the ambient Air Quality monitoring program at the facility.
Responsibilities
• Reporting to the site's EHS Manager and leading all Air Quality programs for the Santa Fe Springs sites.
• Managing the sites ambient Air Quality monitoring program in accordance with SCAQMD Rule 1420.2
• Working with maintenance and operations to track and maintain compliance with operational requirements of air permits.
• Obtaining or modifying Air Quality permits for new or modified sources at the facilities.
• Maintain all Air Quality records in accordance with permit and document retention requirements.
• Ensuring programs are in place to monitor air emissions in accordance with permit requirements.
• Complete Incident Notifications, EHS Alerts, and Root Cause Analysis related to Air Quality and track corrective actions.
• Develop and implement Work Instructions and SOPs for Air Quality control equipment.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance activities on air pollution control equipment.
• Track and report-out on greenhouse gas emissions from the facilities and lead greenhouse gas reduction activities.
• Complete and/or oversee the completion of various Air Quality reports to regulatory agencies.
• Participate in the site's Environmental Teams such as the Environmental Task Force.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and/or monthly Air Quality inspections.
• Coordinate and oversee service providers conducting environmental services such as source testing, installation of enclosures, equipment calibrations.
• Review and approve Work Permits to ensure environmental obligations are being met before authorizing work.
• Ability to interact with Air Quality agencies and inspectors for the purposes of conducting compliance inspections.
• Review Air Quality permit conditions to ensure compliance.
• Prepare air pollution control systems and equipment for annual source testing.
• Keeps apprised of development in federal and state Air Quality laws likely to affect the company.
• EHS Mgr. and Medical Department for review and approval. Interpret results in terms of potential impairment to health of employees and discusses impressions with management.
• Studies work operations, details of nature of the work, materials and equipment used, products and byproducts, and employee workforce profile. Industrial hygiene studies may involve exposure to dust, fumes, mists, gases, vapors, noise, heat, and cold
• Conduct supervisor and employee training and education in safe and efficient work methods, including safety orientation training of new employees. Assist with contractor training based upon the type of work to be performed. Assist with conducting audits of contractor's files for compliance and documentation updates. Review and ensure Non-Standard Work processes are followed as required.
• Interface with Air Quality regulatory agencies (i.e., SCAQMD, EPA)
• Working with maintenance and operations to maintain compliance with operational requirements of air permits.
• Member of the emergency response team
• Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Safety & Environmental, Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or related field
• 3-5 experience in related field
• Knowledge of AQMD and federal Air Quality regulations
• Organizational skills & Excellent Follow-up skills
• Ability to deal effectively with people
• Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Access
• Good written and verbal communication skills are essential
• Project management skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish
• First aid/CPR Trained
• HAZWOPPER Trained
Salary Range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000 DOE
