WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

This leader will formulate the manufacturing department's business strategy and goals, including responsibility for the day-to-day manufacturing of Thermoforming and/or Extrusion platforms. The Director will be an effective teammate with our cross-functional partners within safety, quality, supply chain, engineering, and maintenance to ensure cohesive communication and the production of high-quality, cost-effective products in a safe environment. This Director plays an important role in working with the successful transition of new products/processes into manufacturing. You will be expected to use your knowledge and experience to drive a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization. 

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?

  • Consistent leadership presence on the plant floor; the ability to connect authentically, build confidence in others, and inspire and motivate people into action.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing department
  • Develop and implement the overall manufacturing strategy in alignment with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and guidance to the manufacturing team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with key support group leaders to ensure a reliable and cost-effective supply of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
  • Collaborate with the internal quality engineering group to establish and maintain a robust quality management system, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and industry-standard processes.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators to track manufacturing performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive operational excellence initiatives.
  • Communicate with Shift Managers to ensure a cohesive product flow.
  • Provides leadership to managers, supervisors, and/or professional staff
  • Keep the Site Leader informed of all issues that could affect or interrupt production flow.
  • Lead efforts to optimize manufacturing processes, improve efficiencies, and reduce costs while maintaining high-quality standards and meeting production targets.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and other relevant departments to ensure seamless integration of manufacturing activities across the organization.
  • Ability to adapt and work under pressure to meet deliverables in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that foster collaboration with cross-functional teams at all levels in the business.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making experience based upon the use of data analysis of complex issues and objectives.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management background with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives and achieve budget goals.
  • Acts as a conduit of information between factories and World Headquarters. Monitors factory production reports, processes, procedures, and information. Addresses any issues or discrepancies.
  • Monitors factory compliance with the code of conduct. Notes any issues or concerns and ensures Corporate Responsibility is involved when needed.

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?

The Director will lead and manage a 24/7 manufacturing facility of managers, supervisors, and first-line athletes. The director will also be an effective teammate with our cross-functional partners in safety, quality, supply chain, engineering, and maintenance in St. Charles, Beaverton, and Vietnam. 

WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE

Manufacturing and Functional Experience: 

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree (ideally manufacturing-related) and a minimum of 10 years of directly relevant experience; experience should include comprehensive experience as a business/process leader or industry. One of the following alternatives may be accepted: Masters + 9 yrs; Associate degree + 11 yrs; High School + 12 yrs
  • Required Functional Experience: Lean Practitioner, Lean Manufacturing Experience, Six Sigma, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and 5S experience and implementation
  • Prior Director level experience is preferred
  • Preferred technology capabilities: SAP, Microsoft Office Suite, Smartsheet, and Workday
  • Experience successfully leading projects or other large improvement plan initiatives is preferred

Leadership Experience: 

  • Experience leading a team-based system
  • Advanced problem-solving skills are required
  • Strong conceptual skills and ability to implement change
  • Sound analytical and business judgment, including demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to plan, lead, and implement critical initiatives in a complex environment
  • Mature approach to challenging situations and environments
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and listening skills
  • Ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting work priorities, ambiguity, adversity, and change
