Description
The Aide to Commissioners Court performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties in support of Commissioners Court. This position is responsible for Commissioners Court correspondence, notifying departments of deadlines, keeping all county boards and committees up-to-date, notifying Commissioners Court of vacancies and performing technical research and analysis.
Examples of Duties
Prepares Commissioners Court agenda; places all agendas and minutes on website weekly; coordinates with County Clerk and Court Reporter to ensure all meetings are recorded correctly.
Oversees clerical duties of the Denton County Bail Bond Board, including preparing all agendas and packets of information for monthly meetings; holding yearly elections; ensuring county attorneys are on the list to write bonds; and keeping all records of Denton County Bail Bond Companies.
Understand and ensure compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act and Public Information Act.
Manages the Commissioners Court and Bail Bond Board budget.
Creates and maintains files and records related to the department.
Prepares office correspondence on behalf of office staff; assumes responsibility for accuracy and professionalism.
Receives, processes, and distributes mail to appropriate department or employee.
Receives inquiries by phone and/or in person and responds in accordance to department policy and procedure; screens calls as necessary.
Maintains office supply inventories, coordinating with each department supervisor and preparing necessary paperwork.
Supervises the Commissioners Court Coordinator; manages schedules, administers training, completes yearly performance appraisal and counsels when necessary.
Manages the database for boards and committee appointments, ensures accurate and complete documentation, sends letters of appointment, and maintains paper and electronic files for Commissioners Court records.
Regular and punctual attendance is required.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's Degree in a related field and a minimum five years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Possession of a valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain a State of Texas driver's license within 90 days.
