The AI Security Engineer Intern position resides in the Security and Privacy Technologies department at CableLabs. The Security & Privacy Technologies team drives innovation toward a unified threat-resistant networking environment for wired and mobile experiences. Our team plays a crucial role in benefiting CableLabs’ members, the cable industry, and cable ecosystem subscribers. We make important contributions in IoT security, DOCSIS security, wireless/5G security, AI security, quantum security and more.
Why This Internship Is Exciting
You will work closely with CableLabs security and privacy team and others within the company on securing AI in a holistic manner from the training data and training to the model and inference and how to mitigate adversarial inference and protecting access to API calls. CableLabs’ mission is to invent the future, part of that is also to protect the future. Securing AI is an important and monumental task that has impacts that reach into every industry.
What You’ll Do
- Investigate methods and methodologies to secure the AI lifecycle
- Evaluate how to protect the training data, and measure effects of malicious changes to training data
- Research methods on validating and authenticating training inputs to model weights
- Analyze how to authenticate and validate the models
- Investigate how to measure and mitigate adversarial inference attacks across a variety of datasets.
What Is a Must Have
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or a related field.
- Familiarity with machine learning and AI concepts including deep neural networks and large language models.
- Excellent programming skills, preferably in languages such as Python or C++.
- Familiarity with various machine learning libraries such as sci-kit learn, PyTorch, Pandas, and NumPy.

- Strong understanding of cryptographic principles and protocols.
- Knowledge of secure systems design and implementation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
