We have developed a mobile savings model that allows farmers to invest their own funds in high-quality seed, fertilizer, and agricultural training to increase their harvest and income by 50-100%. About the Role: Reporting to the Chief Innovation Officer, the agronomist will use their expertise in research and farming systems to assist the agriculture department in developing techniques in line with myAgro's business model and North Star.
You will conduct research to make recommendations to increase farmers' return on investment taking into account myAgro's business model, supply chain, field team capabilities and farmers' behavior. We operate in a part of the world that is already experiencing the harsh consequences of climate change, and our farmers are among the most vulnerable populations. The agronomist is a crucial new role in helping myAgro in its ambition to create sustainable and climate resilient livelihoods for these farmers, preparing them for a better and more food secure future.
You Will: Conduct and lead technical research to develop new methods to support the scaling up of myAgro's agricultural programmes. Provide technical advice for designing and implementing innovation projects related to climate change and agroecology (agroforestry, bio fertilizers, cover crops, ...) Identify new seed varieties in collaboration with the procurement team Advice on data collection and help interpretation of data for the different innovation pilots Supporting the development team in translating technical expertise into easy-to-understand language for non tech audiences You Have: 7+ years of experience as an agronomist or expert advisor on agriculture and agroforestry programs, preferably West Africa Master or Phd in Agronomy or related Agricultural field Significant knowledge of the seed industry in Africa (preferably West Africa) Designed and developed agriculture and agroforestry programs in rural areas of Africa Knowledge of farming best practices, seed technologies, fertilizers and crop protection Proven ability to communicate technical information Fluency in English and a preferably good level in French Application Process and Deadline To apply, submit an application on our website.
