Legal Aid has openings for law clerks to work in our Lincoln or Omaha location(s) or remotely in the state of Nebraska during the summer.
The Agricultural Worker Rights Program helps Agricultural Workers in Nebraska assert their employment rights. Our focus is on ensuring Agricultural Workers are paid what they are owed under the law; ensuring that their working conditions are safe; and addressing harassment and discrimination in the workplace.
We represent vulnerable clients that live and work in remote areas with limited access to services. The law clerk will join a legal team that represents farm hands, ranch hands, green house workers, feedlot workers, detasselers, and other field workers in cases involving: wage theft, discrimination and harassment, employment contract disputes, employer provided housing disputes, and violations of federal labor laws.
Duties
The Summer Clerk will assist with various tasks including: conducting outreach to Agricultural Workers throughout Nebraska; perform clerical and/or administrative support work of varying scope and complexity; research complex legal issues involving state and federal law; draft legal memorandums, legal documents, and outreach educational materials.
