Job description

Location: Pittsburgh, PA or Remote within the US

As the Agile Coach-SAFe Certified Program Expert, you will be responsible for facilitating the Agile Release Train events and processes, to assist the teams in delivering value, to help implement lean agile principles and practices across organizational business units. The focus will be on delivering large scale homogenous solutions created by our dedicated groups of teams, guidance and leadership in program design & execution, communication with stakeholders, escalate impediments, help managing risk, and to drive relentless improvement. We are seeking a candidate who has proven leadership skills, the ability to think critically and problem-solve, and a track-record of ensuring project milestones and deadlines are met. Ideally the candidate will be SAFe certified and engaged in several Agile programs based on SAFe.

Ideal candidate will have strong experience as team scrum master with experience delivering scrum/Kanban practices in 2-week timeboxed iterations, preferably in context of delivering value as software with a DevOps approach. Ideal candidate will also have experience defining value streams and ARTs and coordinating multiple teams to deliver in program increment timebox - including working with system architects to define architectural runway/enablers and product managers to define and decompose epics into features. Ideal candidats will also have experience with LPM, including strategy/portfolio alignment and advising the definition, business case / budgeting development, and decomposition of large portfolio epics and enablers.

PPG Digital team is leading PPG and the coatings industry through an evolution in PPG's business strategies and structure - to capture opportunities enabled by digital technologies and provide amazing customer experiences while unlocking new revenue streams and reaching new customers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize the flow of value by steering the Agile Release Trains (ART) to success and navigating the complexity of delivering software consistently in large environments.
  • Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs)
  • Plan and organize SAFe training for key members of the organization
  • Deliver SAFe training and workshops, such as leading SAFe, SAFe for Team, SAFe PO/PM, and Values Streams Identification, where applicable.
  • Evaluate the organization and operating practices to determine the best approach for implementing ARTs
  • Facilitate PI Planning readiness, PI planning event
  • Summarize Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives and publish them for visibility and transparency
  • Assist tracking the execution of features and capabilities
  • Facilitate periodic synchronization meetings, including the ART sync at the Program Level
  • Assist with economic decision-making by facilitating feature and capability estimation by teams and the roll-up to Epics, where necessary
  • Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets
  • Help manage risks and dependencies
  • Escalate and track impediments
  • Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks
  • Encourage collaboration between teams and System and Solution Architects/Engineering
  • Work with Product and Solution Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment
  • Facilitate System Demos and Solution Demos
  • Drive relentless improvement via Inspect and Adapt workshops; assess the agility level of the ART and Solution Train and help them improve.


Required Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree.
  • Certified SAFe (Agile Framework) Program Consultant with experience in 3+ transformation projects.
  • 5 years or more acting in an Agile Coach/SDLC leadership and trusted advisor capacity in a fast-paced technology-based environment.
  • Expertise in advising/coaching/mentoring technology leaders through an Agile transformation.
  • Digital / Product Led Agile transformation experience.
  • Strong Scrum Master experience delivering Scrum/Kanban practices.
  • Planning, developing, and delivering enterprise-level solutions experience.
  • Servant-leadership skills and experience.
  • Effective decision-making experience.
  • Advanced Communication and Leadership Skills.
  • Must be open to occasional travel.
  • Remote candidates must be willing to work Eastern Time Zone work hours.
