After School Aide
Teacher Aide: Extended Care (Part Time) (16 hours/week 2:45 pm - 6:00 pm)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Our Extended Care Teacher Aide will provide support to the Extended Care Teacher in a manner that creates a true team dynamic. Duties include (but are not limited to) the following:

· Assist in providing individual and small-group homework help.

· Assist in establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior.

· Read to students.

· Assist the classroom teacher in creating an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.

· Help plan daily and long-range classroom activities.

· Alert the teacher to special needs of individual students.

· Help maintain individual records for each student. Collect and display suitable material for educational displays; prepare displays;

· Decorate classroom.

· Help maintain order in the classroom; monitor students to keep them on task.

· Perform a variety of office assistance tasks such as photocopying, filing, answering the telephone, etc. as required.

· Perform related work as required.

REQUIRED CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

· Superior skills in creating a dynamic, interactive classroom experience.

· Ability to effectively communicate with parents/guardians on a regular basis.

· Other requirements as designated by the Archdiocese of Portland and St. Joseph Church.

· Ability to complete a successful background check.

· Must have a current CBR# and First Aid/CPR certificate

· Must be willing to update certification

· Preference will be given to practicing Catholics.
