Job Description
The Buyer will research and purchase products for machine or manufactured products.
Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• One year of experience in Supply Chain/Purchasing/Inventory Management/Planning or a similar role in a manufacturing environment
Required Skills and abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Efficient typing skills, with an emphasis on accuracy and legal aspects of purchasing.
• Ability to compile information and make decisions.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Core Contributing Skills, Duties, and Responsibilities to the Organization
• Oversees and maintains current inventory.
• Secure and analyze quotations, negotiate prices with suppliers, and recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.
• Analyze and act on the purchase recommendations generated by the materials management system, including generating Purchase Orders, communicating POs to suppliers, receiving acknowledgments, and performing other PO maintenance as needed.
• Monitor, assess, and resolve supplier delivery and quality performance issues, including problem shipments, receiving issues, packaging standards, open POs, expedited/deferred requests, problem invoices, and other issues as needed Negotiate contracts with wholesalers and suppliers.
• Assesses financial risks of purchases.
• Manage supplier websites as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
