Large Aerospace Machining Manufacturing company in Auburn, WA is currently hiring for an Aerospace Estimator. This individual needs to be an expert in various precision machining (5-axis) and must have experience and knowledge working with with aluminum. The expert knowledge and experience with different precision machines are important as the Estimator will need to come up with the estimations for general production costs and timeline of completion based on various drawings provided by potential customers and existing customers.

***Must reside near Auburn, WA as this position is 100% onsite. No relocation offered at this time for out of state candidates***

Pay: $85k - $100k (Depending on relevant qualifications, expertise on machines, years of experience, Aerospace or similar industry experiences, 3D modelling tools...etc.)

Location: 100% onsite in Auburn, WA

Shift: Standard PST Morning Shift Monday - Friday (flexible schedule from 5:00 AM PST as late as 8:00 PM PST based on personal preference)

(Key Responsibilities)

• Ability to analyze aerospace/aircraft blue prints, engineering models, and product standards to prepare time, cost, materials and labor estimates

• Evaluate drawing and bill of material specifications to verify the manufacturing estimate is achievable and practical.

• Consult with clients, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers to discuss & formulate estimates, as well as resolve pricing issues.

• Develop make/buy analyses utilizing cost data history and supplier quotes coupled with core/context analysis.

• Analyze prior proposal data to compare estimated manufacturing hours against actual executed hours, to improve future estimate accuracy.

• Lead the estimating function on quick turn-around estimates, a high level of customer service, highly accurate estimates, detailed thorough analysis, written proposal presentation at an executive level, and optimized estimating process and tools.

• Create accurate cost estimates for manufacturing and production programs. These programs range from highly technical developmental designs to sustainment activities for existing products in various manufacturing volumes.

• Identify and quantify manufacturing requirements that may impact costs, such as labor, engineering, tooling, and capital equipment.

• Collaborate with the various teams to quote expected material costs, determine designs that utilize the most efficient manufacturing methods, and validate manufacturing processes and procedures.

• Support proposal personnel through the full proposal process, from RFP to final negotiations.

• Support the production planning team to validate manufacturing average costs and optimal production lot sizes.

(Job Requirements)

  • 5+ years of precision machine operation experience with 5-Axis CNC (machine shop experience required)
  • Aerospace estimation experience (highly preferred)
  • Must have experience working with Aluminum (non-negotiable) and hard metals
  • Ability to comfortably read and maneuver CAD (company utilizes Catia V5) and 3D model
  • Comfortability with Excel and Spreadsheets
  • Knowledge of mechanical fabrication methods and equipment
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, tool design, process planning, quality control...etc.
  • Ability to clearly justify final cost estimates in contract negotiations

Compensation is tied to the Colorado and Washington markets for jobs performed in Colorado and Washington. Other locations may be subject to variances based on location-related factors.
