Job Description
Terrapin Adventures in Savage, MD is looking for one adventure Guide & Team Building Facilitator to join our 42 person strong team. We are located on 8600 Foundry St. Suite 50 Suite 50. Our ideal candidate is attentive, motivated, and hard-working.
Responsibilities:
- Lead guests in a safe and fun manner through our challenge course, which includes zip line, giant swing, high ropes courses, climbing tower for people ages 5 and older
- Demonstrate ability to build trust, confidence and good communication
- Lead corporate, school and other groups in Team Building designed to improve communication, leadership, trust, teamwork, and problem solving
- Lead social groups to enjoy our adventure center via parties and other fun events
- Communicate with guests and staff in professional and friendly manner that instills trust, support and creates lasting memories
- Assess the safety functionality of all adventure equipment prior to use. Makes sure that adventure course is clean of trash, safe and in good working order
- Act as positive ambassador whenever asked about company and its service offerings
- Lead guests on offsite tours including caving, backpacking, kayaking, hiking, and river tubing both youth and adult groups
- Demonstrate knowledge of eco-tourism aspects (local flora, fauna, geology, history, fun facts)
- Collaborate on new program ideas
- Help with maintenance and up keep of challenge course, grounds, and equipment
Qualifications
- Must be comfortable working at heights
- Friendly and passionate about working in outdoor adventure eco-tourism industry
- Very good at communicating to guests in a confident and amicable manner
- Be in excellent physical health and able to handle physical aspects of running tours, conducting safety rescues, assisting guests
- Works well with staff at creating a safe, fun and enjoyable workplace
- Enjoys working and teaching people new skills and is patient with those who do not pick up skills quickly
- Comfortable leading groups ranging in age from children to older adults
- Able to assess and diffuse difficult situations
- Able to work variety of shifts
- Subject to criminal background and random drug tests
- Certified in first aid and CPR
- Must be at least 16 years old
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous outdoor guiding and recreation management education
- Prior education in environmental studies
- Skills in climbing, belaying, kayaking, working with ropes
- Comfortable using computer including Google Suite applications and Internet
- Comfortable using general office equipment including computers, phones, faxes, credit card machines, printers, cash register etc.

Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $15.00/hour.
