As PLC Technical Services Engineer II within the Process Instrumentation and Controls (PIC) team at Honeywell UOP you will have the opportunity to be part of the industry leader in designing the next generation of breakthroughs in control systems for the refining, petrochemical, and gas processing industries. 

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating highly complex software functions within Honeywell UOP. You will utilize your experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, while also generating innovative solutions in work situations. You will have the opportunity to try different and novel ways to deal with problems and opportunities, contributing to the ongoing development of existing products and supporting the Project Engineering and Service Groups.

The PIC team is responsible for the production and development of custom control systems based on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and PCs that are sold to external customers. The team's work process involves staging and testing products with a dynamic simulator and programming them accordingly. Additionally, the team is involved in the production and development of control systems for new UOP processes. As a PLC Technical Services Engineer II, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of these control systems, which include components of regulatory and batch control, advanced process control, expert systems, and DCS interfacing.

KEY RESPONSIBITLIES:
Execution of programming tasks for assigned projects, within budgeted hours and schedule at required level of quality.
Provide recommendations for improving software/programs, service support and testing activities to improve the competitiveness of UOP PIC products.
Support maintenance and development of systems (ISO-9001) and resources (coaching & training) so that PIC area can effectively transfer technology to the marketplace in a manner that maximizes value to UOP and to our customers.
Identifying and executing opportunities for continuous work process and productivity improvements, for optimization of project deliverables by maximizing efficiency through better methods, masters, systems, and tools; minimizing the costs
Configuring/networking PCs, Virtual Machines (VMs) and control system hardware to allow simulation, integration, testing and/or troubleshooting of hardware and/or software.
Regular reporting on the status of assigned projects and tasks.
Travel up to 10% to 15% annually to both domestic and international locations.
Typical tasks would be:
Customizing and/or developing software architecture, logic (coding in multiple languages), and operator interface applications
Support and/or perform integration, testing, verification, and validation.
Converting functional specifications or process control ideas to software
Creating/improving master programs Feature Definition

YOU MUST HAVE:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
2+ years of control systems software development and customization experience
WE VALUE:
Bachelors degree in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical or Computer) or Computer Science
Experience with UOP PIC control system product lines such as PSA, ACCS, DRCS, CRCS, etc.
Experience in developing/customizing control systems software for batch or continuous process application in the refining and/or petrochemicals industries is considered ideal.
Working knowledge of Honeywell control system products and software including Experion HMIWeb, Safety Builder, Safety Manager, Control Builder and C300 as a strong plus
Working knowledge of HMI programming software such as InTouch Wonderware as a plus.
Working knowledge of programmable controllers and its programming software such as Invensys Tricon/Trident, Tristation, Siemens S7, Modicon M580, EcoStruxure ControlExpert, Studio5000 and/or Rockwell/Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLC as a strong plus
Understanding of interfaces such as RS-232, RS-422, Ethernet, fiber optic, and interface protocols such as Modbus and Object Linking & Embedding for Process Control (OPC)
Understanding of control panel electrical schematics including components such as power supplies, breakers, relays, and analog and digital wire loops
Understanding of the concepts and role of software within control systems as a key
Understanding various software development lifecycle. Knowledge of software configuration management and change management practices.
Strong organizational, troubleshooting, problem solving and analytical skills.
