Scope of Position
The Manger of Advanced Practice Professional (APP) assists the Director in leading a team of inpatient APPs as well managing the day to day operation of the Service Line. The APP Manager along with the Leads seeks to cultivate collaboration, enthusiasm, and mutual respect among the multidisciplinary team. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient's involvement in his/her own plan of care, reducing the length of hospitalization, and decreasing costs. The APP Manager has the responsibility of managing the patient assignments across multiple inpatient services of the Service line. The APP Manager is also responsible for providing direct health care services as a APP to patients within the parameters of a standard care agreement with an attending physician member of Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (The James).
Position Summary
The APP Manager assists the Director with the planning, organization, direction and evaluation of the health care services provided by APPS. Under the guidance of the Director, the APP manager assists in managing, guiding, coaching, and evaluating the work performance of APP providers. Contributing to the ongoing operations of the Nursing Department and collaboration with other patient care departments/areas that relate directly or indirectly to patient care operations and services is essential. The APP manager also provides health care services to patients working in collaboration with a licensed physician member of The James medical staff. Health care services provided include care during acute and chronic phases of illness, education and counseling of individuals and families, health promotion and prevention and referral to other health care providers and community resources when appropriate.
Minimum Education Required
Master's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in nursing
Required Qualifications
Current license and certificate of authority to practice as a CNP or CNS in the State of Ohio or National Certification Commission for Physician Assistant (NCCPA) certification. Current certificate to prescribe (CTP) in the State of Ohio and a current DEA number. Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification examination of a national certifying organization recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing. Masters degree in Nursing, or graduate from an accredited masters physician assistant program. At least one (1) year experience as a APP Lead at The James preferred plus 3-5 years previous NP experience.
