Form of workThe University Hospital Neuro-Intensive CareAdvanced Practice Nurse (APN), provides dire ct patient care services for neurologically critically ill complex (multi-organ) patients in an Intensive Care setting in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Neuro ICU attending physicians. The APN performs physical exams, collects, and documents data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications. Coordinates the care and discharge of patients and provides direct patient care services. The APN contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, and provides leadership to the organization.
QualificationsCurrently licensed as RN in the State of New Jersey and certified APN by the Board of Nursing. MSN required. Three (3) years of experience as a RN, which includes at least one (1) year as an APN, preferably in an ICU setting. Experience with neuro patients preferred. BLS required. ACLS and CCRN preferred.
