Responsibilities
Works directly with sonographers, cardiovascular trainees, and consultants in the review of echocardiograms. Integrates known clinical information, echocardiographic findings and related physiologic data to ensure that the exam is comprehensive and accurate. Completely and accurately document data and echo exam information utilizing current information management system, in preparation for physician review. Communicates closely with patient service representatives to triage patients and coordinate patient care schedules. Must demonstrate flexibility to accommodate lab staffing needs. Availability for occasional on-call status, weekend and holiday coverage, and later shifts is mandatory. When required, must be able to perform complete echocardiographic study integrating all imaging modalities necessary to obtain all pertinent patient data. Participate in quality initiatives as directed by leadership. Must possess strong human relation and communication skills, and sound judgment. Must demonstrate flexibility in learning all equipment. Must have an understanding of sterile procedures and isolation precaution techniques and must exercise proper precautions to avoid potential contamination.
Qualifications
- Requires a minimum of 5 years full time experience as a Cardiac Sonographer, three of which must be at Mayo Clinic entity or 7 years of full time experience as Cardiac Sonographer.
- Must possess Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential.
License/Certifications:
- Must be a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer [RDCS] and have successfully completed the specialty exams in Cardiovascular Principles & Instrumentation and Adult and/or Pediatric Echocardiography.
- Requires the Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) credential.
- Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) Competency.
Additional Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
