Position Summary
The Adult EducationCareer Essentials Instructor is responsible to the Director of Adult Education Services. Plans, implements, documents, and evaluates instructional practices, procedures, and materials. Provides direct, on-site daily instruction to assist students in earning the Alabama Certified Employee Certificate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Plan, prepare and implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning.
2. Applies research-based instructional practices that incorporate the use of computers and other technologies.
3. Is knowledgeable of reading, writing, and/or math instructional strategies.
4. Uses a variety of instructional practices and tools appropriate to the needs of the student.
5. Uses lesson plans aligned with CCR Standards that integrate instruction across content areas.
6. Uses lesson to teach computer literacy, math, financial literacy, communication skills, workplace etiquette, resolving problems in the workplace, healthy work environment, employment preparation, and workplace safety.
7. Provide instruction in ACT WorkKeys for students to earn the ACT's National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC).
8. Provides continuous feedback and adjusts instruction to maximize student learning.
9. Works with colleagues to develop and evaluate curriculum and materials.
10. Administers and interprets appropriate placement and diagnostic tests.
11. Use formal and informal assessment data to monitor and document student progress.
12. Collects and manages accurate data for program improvement and accountability.
13. Participates in the retention and follow-up of students.
14. Maintains knowledge of program regulations, policy, and procedures.
15. Maintains student records.
16. Comply with all policies of the WSCC College, the Alabama Community College System and the Department of Corrections.

Qualifications

1. Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college, required
2. Prior work experience in Adult Education program, preferred.
3. Prior teaching experience, preferred
4. Must have strong math, English and reading skills
5. Experience working with socially, economically, culturally and/or academically disadvantaged populations,preferred
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills
7. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, preferred
8. Knowledge of Learning Management System

Part-Time GED/Correction Instructor positions are posted on a continuous basis. Available positions are contingent upon enrollment and instructional needs of Wallace State Community College and the community. All initial interviews will be conducted in person and applicants must travel at their own expense.
