Admitting Clerk Registration (Er)

Responsible for receiving reservations, verifying insurance, inputting data, and admitting inpatients, emergency room patients, and ambulatory surgery patients. This is a registration position that works in the Emergency Dept.

1. 1. Enters reservation information into computer registration system in an accurate and efficient manner
   2. Verifies all patient insurance information including authorizations and precerts
   3. Records if patient has a deductible or co-pay on the patient file folder and in computer system
   4. Follows proper armband placement procedure
   5. Notifies patients, upon admission, of patients' rights

1. Must be able to type 6000 keystrokes/hour.
2. Operate CRT and other office equipment.
3. Previous experience in hospital admitting and knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding is desirable.
4. Must be able to communicate effectively with public and others and maintain confidentiality.
