Johns Hopkins Carey Business School is seeking a highly skilled customer service-oriented individual for the position of Admissions Representative to play a key role within the Carey Business School Office of Admissions by helping to drive information, make connections, and build relationships with prospective graduate students. As part of a team of Representatives, this position will help to manage inbound and outbound communication across a variety of channels, including but not limited to phone, e-mail, and SMS messaging. Admissions Representatives take inbound phone calls and other communication from prospective students, place outbound calls to new prospective student inquiries, answer initial questions about JHU Carey's programs and application procedures, and help students take their next step in the admissions process. Reporting to the Director, Recruitment Part Time Programs, this position has broad knowledge of JHU Carey's academic programs and admissions procedures and works with prospective students to understand their needs and interests in support of overall enrollment goals. The Admissions Representative provides excellent customer service and regularly interacts with other members of the Office of Admissions and with staff across Carey Business School.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Via phone, email and other virtual communication channels, establishes new relationships and maintains and grows existing relationships with prospective students by listening and providing appropriate program and degree information, recommendations, and direction.
  • Using a deep understanding of our academic program offerings, the Admissions Representative demonstrates how Carey Business School programs can complement or fill identified gaps in prospects' knowledge or experience and help them achieve career aspirations.
  • Collaborates with the admissions recruitment, enrollment, and operations teams to execute on a business plan and optimal contact strategy for top priorities.
  • Successfully transitions key inquiries to recruitment team for follow up.
  • Utilizes a variety of resources to acquire knowledge of, and familiarity with, Carey Business School programs and degree requirements.
  • Actively participates in ongoing training to increase skill and capability in phone, email, and other virtual communication and associated platforms.
  • Keeps accurate, complete records of contacts with prospects through use of CRM (training provided).
  • Serves as a liaison to all operational and service issues, working with internal partners to help successfully resolve appropriate issues.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Four years' work experience preferably in customer service, higher education, or other related field required.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Experience working in a contact center and/or front line in a consultative sales environment, preferred.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
