Job description

Overview:

Manage recruiting territory and make application evaluation recommendations in support of the Field Recruitment Team.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage recruiting territory, including fall and spring travel seasons.
  • Conduct high school visits.
  • Participate in college fairs.
  • Hold regional interviews in major cities.
  • Host regional Admissions Receptions in major cities.
  • Meet with prospective students as needed.
  • Meet with influencers, such as guidance counselors, coaches, teachers, youth pastors, etc.
  • Conduct research of new opportunities within territory for connecting with students and influencers.
  • Record and maintain accurate records of student contact during travel season, including High School Tier Database of high schools within territory.
  • Represent the Admissions Office at Hillsdale College events within territory.
  • Conduct interviews of prospective students while in the office.
  • Meet with families who visit campus and are interested in learning more about Hillsdale College.
  • Give admissions presentations at on-campus functions and virtually, as needed.
  • Complete first reads and make recommendations on applications for students within territory, and second-reads as assigned.
  • Attend on-campus recruitment events such as Freshman Orientation, Scholar’s Weekend and Leader’s Weekend, as well as other visit programs.
  • Answer questions from prospective students via telephone and/or e-mail.
  • Communicate with top students on a regular basis via phone, e-mail, letter, or other means of communication.
  • Conduct other duties pertinent to identifying, recruiting, and enrolling the right students to Hillsdale College.
  • Find creative and new manners of developing relationships with prospective students and influencers.
  • Participate in professional organizations within territory, as able.
  • Meet 5-7 yearly goals, established by the Director of Field Recruitment.

Education and Experience

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and experience sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the job.

Physical Requirements

Ability to read, write, hear, speak, see and communicate effectively. Ability to operate basic office equipment to include, photocopier, fax machine, adding machine, computer equipment, display monitors and the like. Position is mostly sedentary in nature. Occasional lifting of office supplies, booklets, luggage, etc. is necessary.


Personal Characteristics

The Admissions Office interacts with College staff, prospective students, and parents. The ability to present a positive image of the College to whomever you meet is essential. A clean and neat appearance and a pleasant relationship that is supportive of the College's mission is required. You must maintain confidentiality as needed.
