Overview
The Office of Graduate and Undergraduate Admissions at Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N) works in collaboration with the following schools to recruit, communicate, and yield new graduate and undergraduate students:
  • Graduate School Newark (GSN)
  • School of Arts and Sciences-Newark (SASN)
  • Rutgers Business School-Newark (RBS-Nwk)
  • School of Criminal Justice (SCJ)
  • School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA)

The Admissions team provides information to interested prospective students and families and reviews undergraduate applications to help determine which students are admitted to RU-N. Graduate applications and decisions are reviewed at the school level, while all graduate applications and documents are processed through the Office of Graduate and Undergraduate Admissions.
Posting Summary
Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking an Admissions Associate who will primarily serve as a seasonal application reader of first-year and transfer applicants. Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Admissions Associate has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Learn and maintain operational knowledge and understanding of Salesforce, Common Application, Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR), Perceptive Content, and other internal admissions systems
  • Demonstrate a keen attention to detail and ability to sit for long periods of time working on a computer
  • Review applications (first-year and transfer) as directed during peak application review periods
  • Review and decision applicants daily based upon training and admissions criteria; check the file for missing documentation, follow up with applicants for additional information to complete applications and ensure that all communications go out in a timely manner
  • Accurately record decisions, conditions of admission, and special codes
  • Assist students/families with questions/concerns regarding their applications
  • Consistently initiate action to help the office satisfy overall unit goals and objectives

Minimum Education and Experience
• Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Requires up to two years relevant experience in an administrative function, good communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of university admissions, volunteer management, and administrative functions.
