Administrative / Yard Supervisor

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Ensure a safe and harassment and discrimination free work environment by following and enforcing all safety rules and procedures, all company policies, applicable laws, and Precision Values
  • Provide cultural stewardship
  • Contribute to and model the continuous improvement of safety, efficiency, and work environment
  • Transmit and explain work assignments to employees
  • Review work throughout the work process to identify and correct deficiencies, including damage and loss prevention; review again at completion to ensure quality, efficiency and compliance with AAR, Customer and Company standards
  • Conduct routine inspections of shuttle vans to ensure cleanliness meets company expectations, and ensure the “no food, smoking, or drinking (with the exception of water)” rule is enforced
  • Conduct daily work area inspections to ensure all safety hazards are identified, corrective actions are taken, including reporting hazards to appropriate department/manager
  • Assign duties to ensure adequate use of resources (people, equipment, supplies)
  • Participate in personnel functions such as timekeeping, payroll data entry, selection, training, performance evaluation, disciplinary meetings, and investigations
  • Ensure office environment is neat, orderly, and stocked with necessary supplies
  • Responsible for all records, reports, accuracy and timeliness of payroll, orientation, on-boarding, attendance, time-off, and coordination with benefits manager for enrollment
  • Greet employees, customers, visitors, and handle their inquiries or direct them to the appropriate persons according to their needs
  • Arrange conferences, meetings, or special events such as luncheons or recognition events
  • All other duties as required for safe, efficient, effective and compliant operations as assigned by manager

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience is required, preferably in a unionized automotive environment
  • 1-3 years of office administration experience required
  • Ability to read, interpret, and administer Collective Bargaining Agreements
  • Proven knowledge of and experience with management of employee lifecycle components- to include recruitment, onboarding, employee and labor relations, retention and engagement, training and development, and recurring processes like FMLA and PTO
  • Proven acuity in MS office suite, internet and data-base management systems, Payroll systems (i.e. Paycor, ADP)
  • Ability to motivate, develop, train and direct people as they work, identifying the best people for the job
  • Strong interpersonal skills: active listening, effective verbal and written communication, negotiation, coaching, and conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Effective time management skills are required
  • Must pass driver eligibility requirements
  • Ability to pass a drug screen
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

  • The employee is required to converse and listen in office and industrial settings (indoor & outdoor; noise level is high at times).
  • The employee is frequently required to move about on concrete and uneven surfaces for extended periods of time (4-8 hours).
  • The employee is required to remain stationary for extended periods of time (4-8 hours).
  • The employee is frequently required to lift and carry up to 40 pounds unassisted.
  • The employee is required to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • The employee is occasionally required to travel by car or air.
  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, ascend or descend ladders safely at heights of 10 feet or more, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and adjust focus
