Job Summary

This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid-point hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time of offer.
**NOTE: Yuma County reserves the right to underfill the Administrative Specialist (Grade 5 Min: $17.32 – Mid: $21.65 ) as Administrative Technician, until such time as the successful candidate completes all education and training requirements.

NATURE OF WORK
Under close supervision, performs administrative, office and/or clerical work of routine difficulty; this position has department specific responsibility.

Example of Work

(Illustrative Only) Receives, sorts, indexes, files, and retrieves forms, correspondence, and document; types routine correspondence from written drafts; compiles information for reports and summaries of work; maintains office records and files; checks and answers correspondence with prepared responses and with structured guidelines; answers routine questions from the public and processes confidential and sensitive documents; assists with processing agenda follow-up assignments; assists with purchasing tasks related to the department; serves as receptionist during Board of Supervisors meetings on a rotating basis; operates a variety of office machines; regular and reliable attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalent; and one (1) year of general clerical experience; preferred keying skill of at least 40 WPM; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license. Required successful completion of a background check.
Hourly rate for this position has been revised effective 3/4/24.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of: Yuma County policies and procedures; business English, spelling, and arithmetic; clerical and office practices and procedures.
Skill in: Effectively dealing with public inquiries; alphabetizing and sorting; using computers and other modern office equipment; maintaining records and preparing information for reports; following written and verbal instructions.
Ability to: Effectively respond to phone calls, emails and complaints in a timely manner; plan, prioritizes, manages and responds to multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment; use modern office equipment and computers; communicate effectively verbally and written; lift up to 5 – 25 lbs.; perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Working Environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking and 20% standing. Working at a computer monitor for extended periods required. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.

Medical Coverage Category
The YCEBT is a self-funded medical plan administered by BlueCross BlueShield of Arizona (BCBSAZ). The employee is able to select from three (3) medical plan options with six (6) tiers that will best suit the employee's needs, dependents or families.
Plan Option 1: Preferred Provider Option A (PPO) or PPO A 900 deductible with $10.00 Wellness Incentive. Employees who participate in the "Wellness Incentive" will receive a $20 monthly premium reduction.
Plan Option 2: Preferred Provider Option B (PPO) or PPO B 1,200 deductible with $10.00 Wellness Incentive. Employees who participate in the "Wellness Incentive" will receive a $20 monthly premium reduction.
Plan Option 3: High Deductible High Plan - Health Savings Account (HDHP-HSA) or HDHP-HSA with Wellness Incentive.
HDHP-HSA Wellness Incentive for Employee Only option can receives upto $240.00 annual contribution to a Limited Purpose FSA card.
Southwest Service Administrator (SSA) Mexico PPO Health Plan: SSA is available to employees who are enrolled in YCEBT Medical PPO Plan. The SSA Plan pays 100% of hospital, medical, laboratory and prescription drug benefits, to a maximum of $5,000 per person per calendar year ($10,000 for two or more family members).
