Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to administer technologies from the invention disclosure stage through the life of a patent.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first point of contact for invention disclosure submission and contact with the Office of Technology Management office.
  • Review invention and material disclosures from faculty and review for accuracy. Verify data in electronic database and perform functions to create technologies and/or collect reference material from investigator(s) to support the performance of the intake function.
  • Manage the distribution and receipt of documents associated with invention disclosures, including the assignment of IP by the member of faculty and any outside inventors, drafting correspondence to stakeholders and managing follow-up as necessary.
  • Provide assistance in tracking and maintain timelines by considering federal and foundation guidelines for encumbered IP; obtain and setup award record in the case management database.
  • Create and maintain complete and accurate records in both the case management and docketing databases for well-organized retrieval of invention details for outside agencies and internal staff.
  • Assist the Compliance Manager with annual federal utilization reporting, notifications, and patent reporting.
  • Create and distribute necessary documents for signature, drafting emails to stakeholders and managing follow-up, as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or Paralegal certificate.
  • Working knowledge of computer software: including Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), iEdison, Cayuse Inventions, or other Intellectual Property management software, docketing software such as Dennemeyer IQ.
  • Law firm experience as a paralegal or legal assistant.
  • Intellectual Property experience.
  • Attentive to detail and have excellent computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and people-management skills.
  • Communications skills, organizational ability, and willingness to work as part of a team are also important qualifications.
  • Ability to identify key issues, recognize patterns, and manage multiple tasks.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

G08-H
Salary Range
$20.76 - $32.21 / Hourly
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
