Position Overview
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Division of Student affairs fosters student growth and development. The Division of Student Affairs aids, directs and informs students about services and programs that will expand students' educational experiences and prepare them for diverse lives in local and global communities. The Division of Student Affairs is responsible for many of the outside the classroom/off campus aspects of student life at NCCU, including student engagement and leadership; career services; student disability services; student leadership; residential life; student activities; student conduct; special programs and services; student health and counseling services and campus ministry.
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to provide assistance with developing orientation, transition, and retention activities for new students and their families. The position will be responsible for administrative support for the development and implementation of new student and family programs, maintaining financial records, and providing information regarding New Student and Family Programs programming and procedures. The Administrative Support Associate reports to the Director. Primary duties will include, but are not limited to, providing information to all constituents regarding New Student and Family Programs, overseeing the New Student Orientation registration and check-in processes, maintaining financial records and budget management, and serving as the administrative manager for New Student and Family Programs office, including supervising student employees and maintaining meeting records for departmental committees.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The successful candidate must possess a working knowledge of Student and Finance Banner or an equivalent system; knowledge of office organization, budget management, and computer information systems; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Applications; knowledge of developing and editing electronic newsletters, emails and surveys; knowledge of coordinate the analysis of orientation surveys and report development; ability to manipulate and analyze data; ability to work independently with little or no supervision; to take initiative to see projects and assignments through to completion; to learn, interpret and analyze information to make necessary decisions; to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving; to plan, prioritize and organize workflow; ability to work flexible schedules; excellent analytical and organizational skills along with written and oral communication skills, excellent editing skills; great interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals in a high pressure environment.
Minimum Education/Experience
High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
