About us:
Esperanza College, a faith-based higher education institution, is a partnership between Esperanza
and Eastern University. The college is in a primarily Latino community in eastern North
Philadelphia, just south of US Route 1, the Roosevelt Boulevard. Esperanza College offers a
two-year liberal arts education culminating in associate degrees (Arts, Science, or Applied
Science) in Business Administration, Community and Human Services, Criminal Justice, Digital
Communication, Early Childhood Education, eSports Management, Health Sciences, Math,
Medical Assisting, Media and Technology, and Natural Sciences.
Job summary:
The General Education Division of Esperanza College of Eastern University seeks Adjunct
Faculty to teach day (9am-1 pm), afternoon (3:30 pm – 5:30 pm), and evening (6 pm – 10pm)
courses Monday through Thursday.
Content areas sought include:
- Public Speaking
- Biblical Literature
- Foundations of Christian Spirituality
- Computer Literacy
- Faith, Reason, and Justice
- Spanish
- Modern Western Thought and Civilization
- Justice in a Pluralistic Society
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Plan and provide content instruction to students enrolled in their section(s).
- Assess the knowledge of students enrolled and submit grades representative of their
knowledge and achievement on assessments.
- Connect students with the campus resources that will best supplement the needs of the
students enrolled in your section(s).
- Supplement the material taught in lecture.
- Attend all professional development and training sessions offered to new and veteran
Adjunct Faculty at the College.
- Meet with Program Directors to familiarize yourself with the content you teach and how
that fits into the larger academic programs your students are pursuing.
- Maintain relevant course materials and information (syllabus, assignments, grades, etc.)
in Brightspace.
- Attend formal observation meetings with the Program Director to gain input on your
teaching acumen and discuss ways in which you can improve.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have:
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study.
- College level instructional experience in a multicultural and urban setting.
- Ability to operate in concert with, the Mission and Doctrinal statements of Eastern
University is required.
- Bilingual (fluent in written and spoken English and Spanish) preferred.
