Description
Under direct supervision of the Associate Dean, the primary responsibility is providing instruction to students enrolled in the Graphic Design Associate of Applied Science Degree program. The instructor is responsible for providing an active learning environment to enable students to demonstrate course competencies and creating a student learning centered environment that places learning and skill acquisition at the center of the educational experience.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)
Ability to effectively deliver instruction and integrate technology and active learning into teaching of course material. Strong communication and organizational skills are required for this position and the ideal candidate will have the ability to work with teams from both inside and outside of the department to support student success and learning.
Additional responsibilities include the development and evaluation of curriculum, assessment of student learning, committee assignments and participation in broader college initiatives as assigned by the instructional manager. Candidate must be accessible to students and be able to maintain positive relationships with students, staff and student service programs at WCTC, four year universities and in industry related agencies.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:
1. Demonstrated ability to articulate with the business community and work in a multi-cultural environment, demonstrating the ability to relate successfully with students, staff, faculty, and business people of diverse ethnic, cultural, social and education backgrounds.
2. Experience in preparing design materials conventionally and electronically for a variety of printing processes is desirable.
3. Ability to work with color that includes familiarity with quality control tools and standards used by commercial printers.
4. Ability to correctly prepare full-color files that contain complex text and images.
5. Knowledgeable in Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, as well as experience in Page Layout, Typography, preflighting, outputting, and working with PDF files.
5. Familiarity with a variety of different file extensions and knowledge of how to use them effectively.
6. Must be able to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and various public individuals and groups through oral and written correspondence. Experience with Blackboard is a plus.
Education and Experience Requirements:
1. A Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts or Graphic Design, MFA preferred. *
2. A minimum of two years of Graphic Design experience that demonstrates creativity across a broad spectrum of client projects.
3. Eligibility for Wisconsin Technical College System Teachers Certification.
*Bachelor's degree or equivalent - With education or training preparing a person for the occupational area being taught. Appropriate training may include vendor, manufacturer, in-service or other structured on-the-job training in the occupation. *Educational equivalency -Occupational experience combined with education and training preparing a person for the occupation totaling 7 years or 14,000 hours shall be equivalent to a bachelor's degree. Each academic credit or equivalent credit shall be equal to 110 hours of occupational experience. At the discretion of the district, additional criteria may be required beyond the minimum certification requirements.
NOTE: An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired will also be considered.

Salary for this position will be at the 2023-2024 rates.
