St. Philip’s College is a Historically Black College and Hispanic-Serving Institution with a population of approximately 13,000 students. Of that enrollment: 36% are Pell Grant recipients; 10% are veterans; 84% are enrolled part-time; and 57% are female. We serve 60% Latinx, 22% White, 12% Black or African American, 2% Asian, and 5% other (including American Indian or Alaska Native, multi-racial, or unknown) student populations. We seek faculty experienced in developing course content and delivering instructional practices, as well as staff experienced in delivering supportive services, for diverse populations who have the ability to communicate issues and concerns faced by racially minoritized students.

Job Summary and Description

Teaching faculty are professional educators who have the primary responsibility of fulfilling the District mission of providing a quality education for all students attending the colleges. Categories include full-time, temporary with benefits, and temporary without benefits. Faculty members are responsible to a department/program chairperson; The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of leader, teacher, advisor, and facilitator of learning. Faculty members will uphold the mission and values of the colleges’ and foster effective working relationships with students and colleagues.


Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • (If hired having a High School diploma or equivalency, then must complete an associate degree within 2 years of employment.)
  • Three years of experience in the field of Power Generation or associated discipline (e.g., electrical trades) with the appropriate certifications.

Preferred Education and Experience:


  • Associates degree in a related Field to Power Generation and Alternative Energy.
  • Five years' experience in Alternative Energy.
  • North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) Professional Installer Certificate and or any related NABCEP Certificate.
  • OSHA 10 Certificate.
  • TDLR Electrical Apprentice License
