JOB TITLE: Adjunct Faculty
REPORTS TO: DMSc, Program Director
STATUS: Non-Exempt, Part-Time
WORK LOCATION: Fully Remote
SUMMARY:
This is a contractual position, as specified in the terms of the appointment letter, to serve as a part-time adjunct instructor for SCU’s inaugural Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) Program, which is scheduled to launch September 2, 2024. The Adjunct Faculty member is responsible for facilitating the online asynchronous course, providing regular substantive interaction and feedback to learners, and evaluating learners as outlined in the course syllabus. This position is not rank eligible or benefits eligible and does not participate in the Faculty Performance Appraisal process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the Mission, Vision, and Values of SCU
- Supports the goals of the DMSc program
- Create the course syllabus and develop the course content (if applicable)
- Teaches assigned course(s) in accordance with the Program Learning Outcomes, Course Learning Outcomes, and Instructional Objectives
- Uses appropriate teaching strategies and methods such as, but not limited to, self-directed instruction via asynchronous online learning, case studies, and small group discussions (at the discretion of the instructor)
- Modifies teaching methods based on assessment results and best practices in teaching and learning
- Evaluate student learning through various assessments
- Provide remedial instruction in the course content as necessary
- Submits student grades and course reports as required, i.e., attendance
- Remains current in their discipline and updates course content as needed
- Work in a team environment in a courteous and professional manner
- Maintains all license and/or certification requirements for employment eligibility (if applicable)
- Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor (as needed)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Terminal doctorate (i.e., DMSc, MD, DO, EdD, DrPH, PhD, etc.) from a regionally accredited institution in a discipline appropriate for teaching and responsibilities within the DMSc curriculum
- Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited PA Program with at least 3 years of clinical practice experience in the U.S. (for PA applicants only)
- Current or previous licensure and/or NCCPA certification/PA-C Emeritus (for PA applicants only)
- Prior faculty experience in PA or medical/health professions education. Experience in inter-professional education and online instruction is strongly preferred
- Computer skills required:
- MS Office 365, MS Teams and SIS system
- Other skills required:
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students and other essential stakeholders
- Ability to prioritize work with minimal oversight from supervisor
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
