Job Description
Position Information:
An Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of 2-4 clinical interns per shift, including working one-on-one with individual students while overseeing the care, planning and treatment of patients. This position is 4.5-9 hours per week. All supervisors are asked to be available to substitute for each other, and occasionally an immediate on-call opening occurs. Generally, shifts are up to 4.5 hours in length for 15 weeks, however that may change with the term pending class schedule and supervisor availability. This position is term-by-term with potential for long-term placement if supervisory performance expectations are met, and student enrollment numbers allows for the shifts.
In Summer, 2017 available shifts include working with first-and second-term clinic interns in the DeRusha Clinic at NWHSU, servicing students, staff and family members. Attention will be paid to the fundamental skills in clinical reasoning, pattern identifications, and accuracy in needling and adjunctive techniques. Herbal formulas become a highlight in the second term.

Duties:
- While working one on one with interns, discuss, guide and approve intern's intake, treatment principles, differential diagnosis, treatment principles, strategy, and execution while assuring high quality patient care and education.
- Confirm all diagnostic indicators, point locations, needle placement & technique, and accessory techniques
- Assist interns in defining clinical competency goals on the first clinic shift; using a rubric provided assess student clinical competencies at midterm and end of term.
- Meet all clinical performance, intern supervision and administrative expectations, follow appropriate workflow processes and documentation requirements as outlined for the specific clinic site.
- Attend required trainings and meetings throughout the terms, including mandatory online HIPAA, OSHA, Centricity (our Electronic Health Record system) and other employee trainings.
Minimum Qualifications: Licensed Acupuncturist in State of Minnesota Minimum of 36 months of clinical experience in the field Oriental Medicine degree and/or Herbal Certification College level teaching experience or clinical supervision, preferred Microsoft Office / Word and Excel experience helpful
