Job Description
Department: Addictions & Recovery Services. Coverage for CPAS and Outpatient Assessments.
Work Hours: 8 am to 5 pm
Work Days: M-F
KEY FUNCTIONS
1. Gather information regarding co-occurring disorder related issues from the patient and submit a written assessment to the treatment team; collaborate with the treatment team in establishing a diagnosis as well as formulating and implementing an individualized treatment plan for each patient.
• Demonstrates competence in gathering and interpreting information regarding co-occurring disorders with clients from diverse cultures, ages and spiritual beliefs.
• Utilizes structured interviews to obtain psychosocial information utilized to understand co-occurring disorder.
• Documents assessment and consultation according to Menninger standard for content and timeliness.
• Provides and receives pertinent information for interdisciplinary team meetings.
2. In collaboration with the treatment team, identify ongoing treatment needs and establish measurable goals and objectives for each patient.
• Demonstrates competence in knowledge of co-occurring disorders.
• Demonstrates an understanding of the bio-psycho-social influences and effects of substance use disorders by:
• providing appropriate patient family education;
• meeting regularly with patient to assess progress toward treatment goals; and
• demonstrating an understanding of medication assisted therapies
• Documents according to policy and communicates findings with the treatment team for integration into the treatment plan.
• Assures attendance and participation at mutual support meetings such as AA, NA, SAA, SLAA, GA, SMART Recovery and other support programs.
• Collaborates with the client and family to develop a recovery and relapse prevention plan.
• Utilize family sessions to explore strengths and challenges of the family related to engaging in recovery from a co-occurring disorder
3. Provide training, counseling services and presentations on co-occurring disorders to patients and their families.
• Provide didactic groups on family systems and co-occurring disorders, the science of addiction, relapse prevention, recovery pathways, and developing motivation.
• Provide weekly individual counseling session for each identified patient.
• Present at the family workshops, if needed.
4. In collaboration with the treatment team, identify individual and group resources for assigned patients and family members; serve as liaison between the patient and these resources; initiate and maintain ongoing communication with referral sources.
• Assists patient and family in locating treatment resources in the patient’s home community.
• Assures appropriate recovery related discharge planning and referrals.
• Communicates with post discharge treaters in accordance with the treatment plan.
5. Provide oversight and coordination of assigned addiction services
• Collaborate with the addiction discipline team members and coordinator to ensure delivery of addiction services including groups and mutual support meetings
• Provide coverage for Menninger sponsored support groups such as AA, NA, or Smart Recovery.
• Support and promote attendance of Menninger sponsored support groups among current patients and alumni.
• Collaborate with the Marketing Department in promoting Menninger sponsored support groups among patient alumni as well as soliciting qualified group leaders from interested patient alumni.
EDUCATION
Required: Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
License/Certification
Preferred: LCSW, LMFT or LPC and, LCDC in the State of Texas. Will consider LPC-A, LMFT-A, or LMSWs as well.
Preferred: Credentialed in Gambling Addictions, Sexual Addictions and Food Addictions
EXPERIENCE
Required: Three years experience in the field of mental health and addictions including experience with standardized addiction assessment tools and the treatment of patients with co-occurring disorders.
