SalaryPierce Camp Birchmont is looking for amazing, fun-loving, and kind staff to work with us as Summer Camp Counselors. We're hiring for our summer season, running June 20th through August 17th. Applicants must be available for the full summer session.
This may be the best job you ever have. You'll be working with colleagues from around the world, and make life-long friends. Candidates must have a GREAT ATTITUDE, love the outdoors and campy activities, and display kindness and patience with kids.
The majority of our staff are college-age or recently graduated, so it's a great way to find like-minded people who are passionate about working with young people. It's ideally suited to someone who is interested in pursuing a career in education, sports coaching or youth development - but is a great way for anyone to spend a summer!
Our staff can benefit from access to our beautiful campus, including our freshwater lake, on-site gym and lodge, and all food and housing is provided, in addition to staff events and free transportation on days and nights off.
Our roles are ideally suited to candidates who have experience working with children and young people, or who are passionate about a particular sport or activity.
IMPORTANT NOTES: this is a live-in position - in addition to coaching during the day, our staff are bunk counselors, so we co-habit in our lovely cabins with 2-3 staff and between 10-12 campers! This is a traditional Summer Camp environment!
WORK SCHEDULE: Our staff work 6 days per week for the duration of the summer season (June 20th-August 17th), with two nights and two rest hours on. Other than that it is the definition of a full-time, immersive experience. It is a lot of fun, but also a lot of work!
Responsibilities
- Do outdoor activities or sports with your groups of campers
- Help kids follow daily schedules and encourage them in a positive way
- Help with recreational and educational activities (such as swimming, crafting, or games)
- Escort and oversee children
- Educate campers through games and explorations
- Make sure all safety rules are followed
Skills
- Experience as Camp Counselor or similar role working with children
- Experience playing or coaching your activity at a advanced level
- Patient and reliable
- Organizational and communication skills
- A love for children
- Energetic and positive personality
