Join us as an Activities Coordinator!
Full time - 40 hours, Sunday – Thursday or Tuesday – Saturday 9:30a – 6p or 10:30a -7p
The Activities Coordinator provides and coordinates all programming to patients in the acute care inpatient setting. The Coordinator works with the multidisciplinary team to develop appropriate groups and coordinate group schedules. The Coordinator will also be responsible for connecting with community resources and will work to enhance the group/activity programming throughout the hospital.
How You Care for Our Patients
As an Activities Coordinator:
- Develops activity programming by researching pertinent topics,
- Lead patient groups/activities
- Provide educational in-services on groups/activities
- Facilitate activity and other groups on and off units.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to identify and implement meaningful group activities
- Provide daily instruction and guidance to staff regarding activity delivery methods and techniques as well as at staff meetings
- Determine and implement necessary precautions in exercising responsibility for the care and safety of individuals served
- Maintain curriculum binders for each classroom to ensure that varied and age[1]appropriate activities are planned and conducted for all individuals served
- Utilizes Group Process to assess patient needs and initiates appropriate interventions
- Document accurately in the patient record using approved format and language that is appropriate for anyone, including the patient and their family to read
- Develop activity programs that are creative and dynamic
- Routinely evaluates the activity program using metrics, patient preferences and patient outcomes
- Contribute to the professional development of peers, colleagues and others by acting as a preceptor or resource for new or less experienced staff Effective November 2023
- Participate in treatment team meetings and will engage with other members as required for good patient care.
- Treat the patient with dignity and respect by demonstrating compassion and emotional support by using a calm voice and maintaining good eye contact.
- Demonstrates Trauma Informed Care practices by: maintaining appropriate personal and physical boundaries, meeting with patients in open areas, not disclosing information of a personal nature to patients.

You Bring Meaningful Experience
Successful candidates will have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health disciple or in related field required
- Prior experience working within an inpatient behavioral health care setting preferred
- Supervision experience preferred Must be willing to work a flexible schedule as needed.
- Must have knowledge and experience in leading activity groups in a behavioral health setting.
- Maintains ongoing collaborative relationships with outside agencies including AA, Smart Recovery, Peer Counselors, etc
- Experience working in an inpatient behavioral health setting, residential treatment setting, or in outpatient/outreach or shelter services preferred
- Knowledge of Informed Care, CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing are preferred
- Sufficient typing and computer skills to facilitate use of Electronic Health Record required; experience with Electronic Health Record including Medsphere/Vista preferred
- Must have the ability to independently engage with people and work comfortably with individuals in an acute care setting.
- Must have excellent communication skills, effective time-management skills, and an ability to problem-solve independently
