Job Description
Assists the Director of Lifestyles & Wellness or designee in developing, planning, organizing, coordinating, and implementing a holistic wellness program for residents.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree in recreation or related field preferred.
- At least 2 years of adult recreation, hospitality and event planning experience preferred.
Job Duties
- Organizes, plans, supervises and executes a diverse activity program to include resident outings utilizing in-house and community resources in conjunction with the Pathways to Wellness Committee and various other committees. Consults with individual residents to determine resident preferences including trips, speakers, and special events
- May conduct one-on-one engagement and enrichment visits with residents as needed.
- May request physical set-up for room and food as needed for resident programming .
- May assist with preparing the resident newsletter and other program-driven communications including TouchTown.
- Makes budget requests to the Director of Lifestyles and Wellness or designee. Submits requests for suppliesin advance and makes purchases as needed.
- Maintains good social accountability, volunteer, and community relations within the greater community.
- Meets as scheduled with Director of Lifestyles & Wellness or designee to discuss the effectiveness of programs and activities makinge suggestions and raising concerns regarding the department.
- Maintains all necessary documentation such as sign-in sheets, registrations, fees, , program tracking, licensing, certifications, etc.
- May participate in service plans and care plan meetings.
- May supervise transportation services including documentation, vehicle maintenance, schedules, related fees and may supervise transportation staff.
- All other duties as assigned.
- May be involved in planning and organizing team members events including maintaining room reservations and coordinating associated fees.
- Attends in-service program and Relias training as required.
Qualifications
- Ability to organize, plan, execute, and supervise activity programs, calendar, and outings for residents.
- Knowledge of program planning and coordination.
- Knowledge of gerontology or related field and health care issues affecting older adults.
- Ability to respond to problems and emergencies indoors and outdoors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills demonstrating the ability to communicate with residents and family members as well as community team members.
- Ability to read, write and communicate proficiently using the English language.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- May include frequent lifting (up to 25lbs).
- Extensive walking, bending, stooping, standing.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks.
- Ability to work inside and outside to effectively make rounds daily throughout the community and to respond to problems and emergencies.
- May be exposed to sights, sounds, odors, and behaviors typically found in a health care setting, particularly one involved with the care of elder persons.
- Ability to assist in transporting residents. Must be able to assist in the loading and unloading of residents in community vehicles.
