Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activity Assistant to join our team. As an Activity Assistant, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents in a nursing home setting. You will assist in planning and implementing engaging activities that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Duties:
- Assist in planning and organizing recreational activities for residents, including games, crafts, outings, and social events
- Provide support and encouragement to residents during activities, ensuring their safety and enjoyment
- Assist with daily living activities (ADLs) for residents who require assistance
- Collaborate with the activity director and other staff members to create a diverse and stimulating activity calendar
- Help residents maintain their independence by providing guidance and support in areas such as mobility and self-care
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes social interaction and engagement among residents
- Document resident participation and progress in activity programs
Requirements:
- Previous experience in recreational therapy, senior care, or a related field is preferred
- Knowledge of aging issues and the ability to provide counseling to seniors
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff members
- Ability to assist with ADLs and caregiving tasks as needed
- Experience in event planning is a plus
- Familiarity with memory care programs is beneficial
