About the Agency
The Virginia Department of Fire Programs enhances public safety in the
Commonwealth by providing supplemental funding, training, fire prevention and
life safety education, along with statewide fire code enforcement. As a Virginia
Emergency Support Team (VEST) agency, operational and technical assistances is
provided to communities in need during emergencies of all types. This includes
both operational support in the Virginia Emergency Operations center (VEOC) and
in-the field deployments.
About the Position
The Virginia Department of Fire Programs (VDFP) Training Branch provides training to Virginia's public safety community. The Program Support Technician will provideadministrative support to the Accreditation Division office. Specifically, thisposition is responsible for duties to include, but not limited to providing customerservice and responding to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders via
face-to-face, phone, or by email; proficiently entering student data into theLearning Management Systems (LMS); assisting with processing bulk printing jobs;reviewing submitted documents/online testing packages for compliance andcommunicating results with students as needed; and managing physical andelectronic records to support the training programs and school processing. The
position will also be responsible for maintaining/updating files systems anddatabases; preparing correspondence, reports, spreadsheets as required;reviewing and processing testing materials as required; and providingadministrative assistance for special assignments as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
• Experience demonstrating knowledge of administrative and office procedures and
skills to performing a wide variety of administrative tasks to include, data entry,
document compliance review, creating and preparing documents/correspondence,
and completing bulk printing jobs.
• Experience demonstrating the ability to interpret/analyze programmatic policies
and procedures and provide feedback as needed.
• Written communication skills demonstrating knowledge of the proper use of
grammar, spelling, and punctuation to prepare correspondence, spreadsheets, and
similar forms of various other documents.
• Experience demonstrating the ability to provide customer service for face-to-face,
telephone, or email inquiries from all levels of internal/external stakeholders.
• Experience demonstrating knowledge and skill in the maintenance of filing
systems and records retention.
• Experience demonstrating organizational skills and the ability to manage
conflicting priorities in a fast-paced deadline driven environment.
• Experience demonstrating the ability to work independently with minimal
supervision as well as work in a team environment as needed.
• Considerable knowledge and skill in the use of computers, Microsoft Office, and
various software.
Additional Considerations
• Extensive experience demonstrating knowledge of administrative and office
procedures and skills to performing a wide variety of administrative tasks to
include, data entry, document compliance review, creating and preparing
documents/correspondence, and completing bulk printing jobs.
• Experience providing administrative support in a testing/training work
environment.

clause (ii) of §18.2-371, or (c) domestic assault under §18.2-57.2 or any offense that
would be domestic assault under the laws of another state or the United States.
Other: U.S. Citizen at least 18 years of age. Willing to travel overnight occasionally.
Valid driver's license. A one-year probationary period is required of all newly hired
and re-hired employees.
