Accounts Payable Specialist

POSITION TITLE: Accounts Payable Specialist CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

POSITION REPORTS TO: Controller PERSON SUPERVISES: N/A

This position will be responsible for managing the Accounts Payable process for all (11) agencies with a high level of accuracy and efficiency. You will work closely with the Controller and other department heads to ensure timely processing of invoices, accurate coding, and prompt payment to vendors. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to proactively identify and implement process improvements.

• Maintain the Accounts Payable process, including obtaining approvals for invoices, coding and entering invoices into the accounting system, and processing payments as due.
• Maintain an organized filing system.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all vendor inquiries and communications.
• Provide bi-monthly Accounts Payable reports.
• Proactively suggest and assist with the implementation of process improvements in collaboration with the Controller and other department heads.

• Perform other accounting responsibilities as needed, such as processing transfers and preparing housing replacement reserve requests.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or currently pursuing.
• Non-profit experience preferred.
• Accounts Payable experience preferred.
• Understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to learn new systems.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and demands to accomplish tasks in accordance with established requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate, organized records.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a cooperative and professional attitude in working in a team environment.

Pay: $25.00 per hour
