Position Overview
Continental, a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation, is a leader in Fire protection and one of the top 20 Fire Sprinkler contractors in the nation. We are hiring an Accounts Payable Lead to join our team in Omaha Nebraska. In this role, you will process vendor invoices, maintain vendor accounts, vouch multi-state sales & use tax computations, code and apply costs within the job cost subledgers and process payments in a timely fashion. The position resides in a high-volume transactional accounting department that directly supports the construction operations of the business and frequently interacts with vendors, purchasing agents, and operations management. Continental Fire Sprinkler Company is one of the Midwest's largest and most-respected fire protection contractors. With its headquarters in Omaha, NE, Continental also operates branch offices throughout the region. Continental offers complete construction services for all markets and project sizes as well as testing and maintenance services.
Location
This position is based in our corporate Continental office in the Millard suburb of Omaha, NE.
Responsibilities
• Perform data entry and processing of Accounts Payable invoices, processing vouchers for purchase orders, and coding of information into the systems
• Prioritize cash disbursements, process daily, weekly & monthly check runs, capture prompt payment discounts
• Apply sales and use tax regulations to determine appropriate tax treatment, source transactions to proper jurisdictions and assist filing tax returns in a multi-state environment, maintain exemption certificates
• Maintain vendor records, collect W9 forms, process year end 1099's
• Maintain filling system and document imaging system
• Research and reconcile account statements and resolve discrepancies
• Obtain vendor lien waivers and maintain licensing on vehicle fleet
Qualifications
  • Minimum of an Associates Degree in Accounting with four years of related experience in Accounts Payable or a Bachelors Degree and a minimum of two years experience in Accounts Payable
  • Must be proficient in the use of MS Office products, and exposure to accounting software. Experience with Spectrum accounting software highly desired, but willing to train.
  • Experience in construction / accounting office environment desired
  • Experience working with all levels of management, staff, and craft personnel desirable
  • Dependable and detail oriented with the ability to organize and prioritize the work product both individually and from others
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, strong analytical and research skills.
