Job Description
Responsibilities
- Accounts receivables, payables, satisfying guest inquires, cash reconciliation, and daily revenue reporting.
- Accurately classify, code, post and summarize numerical and financial data.
- Organize, secure, and maintain accounting files, records, cash and cash equivalents in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Reconcile daily revenues received for hotel, restaurant, and conference services departments.
- Research and resolve billing variances to guest satisfaction.
- Reconciles credit card transactions to ensure accuracy.
- Complete month-end closing procedures and reports.
- Provides accounting support to operational departments.
- Backs up HR in preparation of bi-weekly payroll processing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Accounts Receivable
- Audits, creates, and distributes guest invoices.
- Receives and posts incoming payments and deposits into bank account.
- Facilitates timely payment of invoices by sending bill reminders and contacting guests.
- Researches discrepancies and follows up internally and with customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Reconciles bank deposits.
Accounts Payable
- Verifies and processes invoices, ensuring appropriate approvals, supporting documentation, and proper expense account coding, in accordance with company policy.
- Inputs vendor invoices and credit memos into accounting software with proficiency and accuracy.
- Files monthly, quarterly, and annual business, property tax compliance returns, and sales tax payments.
- Assists with the payment of bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly payroll related tax and withholding payments.
Reporting
- Performs month-end close process necessary for the completion of monthly financial statements.
- Prepares financial information for the hotel management company necessary in the compilation of monthly financial statements to ownership.
- Provides reporting, including analysis and ad hoc support to hotel management on the monthly financial statements.
Hospitality
- Enthusiastically delivers first-class hospitality that exceeds guest expectations.
- Engaged with the hospitality Team work culture.
- Partners with guests, vendors, and internal customers to enhance relationships.
- Perform research as needed with timely and accurate responses to guests, vendors, and internal customers.
- Respond to guest, charge and other inquiries / requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.
- Demonstrate Gateway hospitality and values.
- Protect the privacy and security of guests and coworkers.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; 2 years' experience in accounting, or related professional area.
- Good alphanumeric typing skills, as well as general filing and recordkeeping abilities.
- Previous accounting experience preferred, including receivables, payables, and cash reconciliation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Aptitude to learn Agilysys, VisualOne, PMS & Micros POS.
- Knowledge of Great Plains accounting software a plus.
- Knowledgeable in accounting practices, confidentiality, filing (paper and electronic), and forms management.
- Must be able to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
