Job brief:

Vertosa is growing and in need of a results-driven Accounting Manager. This role will play a crucial role in managing the financial activities of the organization, including overseeing accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and contributing to the overall financial health of the company. The ideal candidate will combine financial expertise, analytical skills, and a growth mindset to drive financial performance and support decision-making processes.

Responsibilities:

• Support senior management in developing financial plans and strategies that align with Vertosa’s goals and objectives.
• Collaborate with the VP of Finance in forecasting future financial performance to help identify risk or opportunities, and provide recommendations on financial decisions.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including timely and accurate income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Ensure Vertosa complies with all applicable financial regulations, including tax laws and reporting requirements.
• Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, including accounts payable and receivable, bank statements, payroll, and financial statements.
• Establish and monitor internal controls and software systems to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
• Coordinate cash flow to ensure sufficient cash is on hand to meet obligations and invest in growth opportunities.
• Support tax planning and compliance activities, including tax strategies, compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations, and engagement with external tax advisors as needed.
• Collaborate with other internal and external members of the Finance team to foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Job requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in finance or accounting roles, including expertise in financial management and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Advanced skills with financial software and tools such as Excel and QuickBooks.
• Demonstrated expertise in accounting standards and regulations, specifically as they apply to the cannabis industry.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze financial data and provide insights into the organization’s financial health..
• Ability to consistently deliver high-quality work in a high-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to finance and non-finance professionals.
• Team player with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external members of the Finance team while collaborating effectively with other department leaders.
• Must be a passionate champion for cannabis, although Vertosa does not require cannabis consumption for any employees.
